Dove

The dove in the center of the patio symbolizes the Holy Spirit, referring to Matthew 3:16,  “And when Jesus had been baptized, just as he came up from the water, suddenly the heavens were opened to him and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him.” Note that it has been placed at the center of three interlocking rings (the Trinity).

To mark the completion of this exploration of some of the symbols found at All Saints, you are invited to offer this prayer:  “Grant to us, Lord, we pray, the spirit to think and do always those things that are right, that we, who cannot exist without you, may by you be enabled to live according to your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.” — The Book of Common Prayer

Common Prayer quotations are from the 1979 edition.

Except where noted, scripture references are from

the New Revised Standard Version.
