Holy Week and Easter Services

Palm Sunday: March 29 at 8:00am + 10:30am

The drama of Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday on March 29. At the 8:00 and 10:30 services we reenact Jesus triumphal entry into Jerusalem with palms and hosannas. Later we hear again the horrible majesty of Jesus' trial and crucifixion. At 10:30, the choir will be led in procession around the church by bagpipes, and the choir will sing. Please meet on the patio for the 10:30am procession.

Maundy Thursday: April 2 at 6:00pm

Focusing on Jesus’s command to his disciples to love one another as he has loved them and his institution of the Eucharist to be shared together as a sign of our unity in Christ, this service will feature music, Holy Communion, a simple stripping of the altar, and silent procession out as we move into the solemnity of Good Friday. Following the service, we will gather for dinner in the parish hall.

Good Friday: April 3 at 12:00pm + 7:00pm

This is the only day of the year in which we do not celebrate the Eucharist, but rather focus on the cross through the reading of the Passion Narrative (the crucifixion of Jesus) and a series of prayers known as the Reproaches. Our service begins and ends in silence. The 7:00 PM service will feature the choir singing the Passion of St. John by Bob Chilcott

Easter Vigil: April 4 at 8:00pm

If you have never experienced the Easter Vigil, this is the year to do it! We gather in the dark, and the service features light and fire as well as placing the story of our faith in context through a series of readings from the Old Testament. We light a new fire, process the Paschal Candle (the light of Christ), we will proclaim that Christ is Risen and renew our baptismal vows, and we will celebrate the first Eucharist of Easter. The setting is very dramatic and while the service is longer than usual, it is very powerful. Bring some bells to ring when we proclaim the resurrection.

Easter Sunday: April 5 at 8:00am + 10:30am

The 8:00am Rite I Easter Eucharist will feature trumpet and the Choral Scholars and the 10:30am Rite II Easter Eucharist will feature at trumpet trio and our full choir. Wear your Easter Bonnet and join us for either of these traditional festival services!
