COVID-19 OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES
We have partnered with the Welborne Church Community Food Pantry to help our local community during these difficult times. Their mission is "to serve those who are hungry in the West End of Richmond, feeding bodies and feeding hearts by loving our neighbor." We are collecting donations for their food pantry at All Saints. Canned food, rice, pasta, peanut butter,
cereals, mac and cheese, and individually wrapped snacks can be left in the green shed by our playground. Please no glass
containers of any kind. For more information, you can visit their facebook page
for news and updates. If you’re looking to volunteer, the Food Pantry needs you! We need volunteers both Monday and Wednesday mornings from 10am- 12pm and Monday evenings 4:30-6:30pm. Please send an email
to firstname.lastname@example.org. Lifting, masks, and social distancing are required.
RISE AGAINST HUNGER
We host an annual meal packaging event for Rise Against Hunger, an
international hunger relief organization that distributes food and
life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable, mobilizing the necessary
resources to end hunger by 2030. 815 million people across the world do not
receive enough nutrition to lead an active, healthy lifestyle. All Saints hosts a
family-friendly meal packaging event each fall. Look out for information about
this event in our publications.
CARITAS, the largest homeless services provider in Central Virginia, transforms lives and restores dignity through its four programs. CARITAS is made up of four programs: the Shelter program, The Furniture Bank, CARITAS Works, and The Healing Place. The main objective of CARITAS is to help break the cycles of homelessness and addiction so that people can exit shelter and return to their families, their jobs, their homes and their lives as productive citizens leading stable lives. CARITAS has evolved to its current form by filling the gaps in the homeless services system, achieving long-lasting results. Our goal is to prevent people from backsliding and returning to the shelter system because they lack the fundamental skills and resources they need to remain independent.
Every year we host women and families for a week in our parish hall. We provide them with meals, activities, and support. This event requires a lot of volunteers, if you are interested in learning more, or would like to help, contact us.
We collect canned goods and other non perishable items in our food donation baskets located throughout the building. We have a team that delivers the donations to the local organization which provides food to needy families in Henrico county.
Check out the All Saints community Garden, on the east end of the parking lot. We have two large raised beds perfect for growing a variety of vegetables. Our preschool uses a portion of the garden to help the children learn about how food is grown and where it comes from. The farm fresh bounty will be given to help feed the needy in our community. We are looking for individuals or groups to help keep our garden clean and productive. If interested in helping even for an hour or two, please contact the church office, 804-288-7811.
