Mosaic of Isaiah
The prophet Isaiah lived during the eighth century before the birth of Christ. The Book of Isaiah is quoted often in the New Testament since Christians believe it contains many references to the life and ministry of Jesus. The mosaic shows the prophet writing a portion of Isaiah 9:6, which in full is often read or sung during Advent/Christmas: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (KJV).
