Nave
 

Look up and see the nave!  It is the central part of our church building, intended to accommodate most of the congregation. In traditional Western churches it is rectangular, separated from the chancel by a step or rail, and from adjacent aisles by pillars. The word nave comes from the Latin navis, referring to the ceiling resembling the bottom of a ship.
